Welcome to my new website! Thanks for visiting. I built the old one myself, as a placeholder, using iWeb, about a million years ago. And once it was up, well, I got busy with other things and there it sat. Until now! (Big thanks to @Malavision)
I've got a sort of pathetic track record as a blogger--I've never been able to figure out how to fit it into the rhythm of my work habits--but I'm hoping to use this space to at least post regular updates about my reporting and travels, call attention to great work by friends and colleagues, and occasionally rant or rave about other things.
On the articles page, you'll find many of my most recent stories, as well as a few older ones that I'm not ready to consign to the archives yet. In the archives, you'll find a wider selection of articles, going back all the way to the turn of the century.
As 2016 begins, I've got Canada on my mind. Our neighbor to the north is a fascinating land of stunning natural beauty, epic natural resource conflicts, and shifting political winds. Not to mention all those polite people with awesome accents. And French! I'll be reporting a few stories from up there in the months ahead, and I can't wait to get started.
Borrowing words from an amazing preschool teacher I know, and adopting them as my mantra; maybe you want to as well. Get your shoes on.
